Bedroom #1 Renovation

Our next DIY project.....our son's room

During our recent bathroom renovation ALL of the sub-floor had to be replaced, also a portion had to be fixed in this room because they are next to each other and we lost part of the original hardwood floors in this room. So Sad!
See the photo below where the portion of the floor was fixed. It was a lot more than this photo shows (See more before photos below). But this is a before shot of the room empty.

Here were my thoughts on design for this room!
I wanted neutral with a touch of masculinity!

This room had textured walls and ceilings with no crown molding to separate the the walls from the ceiling. A portion of this room got brand new Sheetrock from the bathroom renovation and there was no way we could match this texture. We wasn't real fond of it anyway. We prefer smooth walls.
So, we did a skim coat method where we skimmed the Sheetrock walls with joint compound to produce a smooth finish.  This project was very hard, dusty and took a very long time.
For future renovation projects it will be simpler to remove the old Sheetrock and replace with new. (Lesson Learned!)

The ceiling was the same texture as the walls and needed a couple repairs.
We rolled on joint compound and used a stomping brush to achieve a new textured design.
